arrow of extrication

I am stuck in the watery dungeon I am at the point where the floor drops off. I have dove down but either keep popping up in the bay or back to the same place I was. I can't find the passage I need to take. Can you help?

The passage is about half way down. If you end up swimming through a hole at the bottom where the giant slaughterfish is, you have gone to far. You will need to swim back upwards, facing the left wall, and you will see a gap about half way up. Use the map to make sure you are facing the same direction as the passage.
