You need to have a stored finisher and a full momentum bar. Then stun the opponent and press L1 and L2 together. This should make your character do their finishing move. You still need to be in the right position for it to work though.

You need to store a finisher, and then get your momentum bar to full. Once the bar is flashing, get the opponent in the correct position for their finisher, and hold L2 and press L1.
