Is there a way to reverse most grapples and strikes?

Question for WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006

Is there a way to reverse most grapples and strikes? Perhaps by a certain button pressing sequence, because I play my nephew and he can reverse anything by barely pressing the reversal buttons. I try to mix up my moves, but to no avail, I cannot get a move off, nor can I reverse his counter attacks. I could sure use someones expert knowledge because I suck right about now.

Flame Boy 619 answered:

The L2 button reverses striking attacks, and the R2 button reverses grapples. You can't just tap the buttons quickly whenever you start to go into a move or your opponent is punching you, because this won't work. You need to tap the right button at the exact moment a grapple starts on you, or the exact moment a punch hits your body, then you will reverse it. Hope I helped.
