I have tried the money and weapons cheat on my PS2 for grand theft auto III but they do not work can you help.

Maybe the cheats you have are not correct. If these cheats do not work, than sorry I can't help.

MONEY-R2 R2 L1 L1 left down right up left down right up

WEAPONS-R1 R2 L1 R2 left down right up left down right up

You may be entering the cheat incorrectly.
I had the same problem, it turned out I wasnt pressing one of the buttons in the code.

MONEY-R2, R2, L1, L1, L,D,R U, L, D ,R, U

WEAPONS-R1, R2, L1 ,R2 L,D,R U, L, D, R, U
