That's not nice silver. Their are various items you need to get from defeating creatures and stealing as well. Once you get items that you can use to make a new weapon, you can find out by pressing the start button and where it says (COMBINE) the word new appears. But you still need to keep up with it wether the word new shows up or not cause some weapons can be made by combining swords with maces and so fourth. Once you see the ?????? Marks you can do it by clicking on it and it will tell you what you need. If it is black you are already missing things. If they are white you can make the weapon. Be careful though some items are hard to get within the game so chose wisely. My technic is, once I can combine, I make sure I go to a save point, save my game and see what is the best thing to get once I combine cause some things like the armor for your head isn't even worth getting cause you use valuable items you need to make a good sword or mace for that and it isn't worth it.
