When I found it, I had Zidane using Thievery, with the occasional Dyne Skill, Garnet healing everyone from the back row, Vivi using fire from the back row, and Freya attacking and using Reis's Wind and Jump. Don't forget to have Zidane steal.

Yes, this boss is tricky for newbies and americans but hey ill help ya out neways cause I'm such a kind harted naieve person. The easiest way to defeat that boss is to level up alot because at the point of rescuing garnet you're probably only level 15-30. You can come back here on disk three when garnet becomes a queen. If I remember correctly it's best to have zidane continously nicking his stuff to get the daemons mail. The other three characters can attack the book and wait until it gets to the open page then you can attack. It would be good to have yourself protected against as many statuses as possible. Auto haste is also an advantage but it's sumthing I have on all the time cause the battle system is way too slow.

The best strategy to use is to attack using zidane and steiner, and freya after you use reis's wind. When he pops out don't attack him just use vivi's black magic and he wont disapear again unless you take your time he'l just say "seeya" but you just repeat the process. Also remember to regularly heal your chracters if need be cos paperstorm does alot of damage. If your quick enough you will have plenty of time to reach dagger.
