As far as I know you cant. Whether you can for Sims3 I don't know...but in Sims2 it can't be done.

You actually can. While the mother is giving birth look at her eyes. If her eyes have a lot a rings or darks around the eys it means she will have a boy. If her eyes almost look completly normal it means she'll have a girl.
