My Sims won't do anything

My Sims won't do anything

My Sims 2 FreeWill is "on" but my Sims all just stand around. They're not stuck or anything, they just won't do anything unless I tell them to do something. Even if they're hungry, they'll still just stand there instead of going to get something to eat.
Like I said, the Free Will option is "on" and I tried turning it off and than on again so it's not that.
Does anyone know how to make my Sims act more independently?

I said, I downloaded a fireplace that was causing this to happen. When I deleted the fireplace, my sims started to move around independently again.

This happens to me ALOT; I know how you feel. What I do, is look at what they Need. When they're hungry and they just stand there, I check to see if there is something blocking there path; if so I move it, if not then they have too many other Needs. Like, they could really have to use the bathroom, or need a shower; sometimes Fun can stop them from eating. It really all depends on what they're thinking at the time. Also, when they just stand there, they're usually waving at you for you to TELL them to do something, and I know you're telling them to eat, but maybe they want to do something else first. Yes, I know this can be frustrating, but, remember, they're just like babies; they need ALOT of attention. Keep trying!! Smile

Yes, get up the cheat window and enable the cheats. Then hold the shift button and click on a person. You should see a bunch of options to do. Keep going through them until you reach a bubble that says something about not controlling this sim. Your sim will do the stuff without you doing anything.
Warning: By doing this your sim will do stuff he/she only wants to do or some other events. Your sim may go hungry and almost starve themselves or go crazy. You can switch back to controlling this sim by pressing the same bubble.
