Making people happy - calming them
I just got my game, and I purchased it used and I don't have the instruction book. This will probably seem simply to some - when I can approaching other people and trying to "calm", "cheer them up". When it goes to the screen where there are the three icons - I can work it when only 1 flashes, but there are times when all three (3) flash, and I can't click on all three at the same time, everytime I try I loose my sanity score - someone help as to how I select all three(3) at the same time.

You have to figure out what action you need to take of the three options to react to the action which they make. If they look like they are about to hit you with their fists then press "beg", if they raise one hand up to you I think it's "yell back" and I've forgotten what the middle option is, but it's when both hands are up together. You only choose one option and you need to figure out which is needed, but all the Sims tend to act the same way, so once you've got it figured you can apply the theory to all of them.

It only flashes once the first time to tell you what to do. The next times you have to work out what to do by their actions:
Cheer-up- when they open their arms, press hug, when they put their hands together over their chest press pep-talk, when then put their hands over their eyes as if crying press console
Calm-down- when they are going to punch you press beg, when they put their arms up press calm hands, when they put their hand up in your face press yell back
Restrain- when they spin around off-balance, press steady, when they stick their hand out around their stomach press stern yell and when they put their hand down to around their knee press stop
Romance- when they lean forwards, press kiss, when they beckon, press show off bod, and when they cup their hand around their ear press serenade.
When it flashes three times it doesn't mean press all three at once lol, and if you press the wrong thing it makes your sanity meter go down.

By the way, Queen Hils and Philippaza are both right, and this isn't actually very simple for most people; it took me months to work it out! :P
