Find the chest in desert

There isn't a particulart place, but I've found that whenever I do it, the chest tends to be right at the back, close to the stage before you get to a sandstorm, on like one of the mounds of sand.

you should go to the back where that wierd thing is NOT THE SPACESHIP the other thing at the edge

You have to go near the landing craft. Use your metal detector there.

I found the chest right behind the pond, on top of the mountain of sand..

The ratticators lair is behind the lockers next to the freezer in the basement

I'm so stuck I've been looking forever and I see the usual stuff.

I couldnt find the chest. I looked everywhere in the desert but I gave up because firsly, I kept having to charge my detector... But secondly because I couldnt find it. I used my metal detector and all I found was the useral...
That Keilegh or something girl found it.
What is actually inside it?

Also... What can I do with Lead Rocks?

I found it right behind the pond! IT IS VERY EASY TO FIND IF YOU ACTUALLY LOOK AND YOU DON'T BE LAZY!

I looked everywhere people keep saying near the oasis or the spaceship,but the game is already completed and apparently when you get the chest you can't do anything with it but only sell it for 6,000 at the shop is there really any point? -____-

I don't know where it is but next time I have 2 do it ill look behind the pond or neer the sandstorm so thanx evey 1 4 helping me out xxxx

I think the treasure chest changes from game to game, but they all seem to be in the back somewhere. I've never looked for it, but I do have a tip. What would be most efficient to do is make sure your detector is charged, then go the desert. Save your game, them look for the chest. If you don't find it, quit the game and load it again. Repeat as needed. This way, you don't have to keep running back and forth to the hotel to charge and recharge your metal detector and using up a load of fuel rods. Hope this helps :{D

OK so you need your metal detector. I found mine around the boulders next to the GREEN pond. Hope this helps. However, don't give up if it's not there. There is a few other places it could be, like in between the blue pond and the spaceship

OK, here's a better answer than "its at the spaceship/ oasis/ near the back": the location is random and CHANGES if you leave the desert. What you wanna do is get out your metal detector and (in case you didn't know) there's an up-and-down slider on the side; you can use to enhance the image. Search the desert, and use the slider when you hit something, don't dig it up unless it's a Chest. The Metal Detector has enough battery for you to scour almost the whole main part of the desert before it runs out. In any case, you're given six hours to find it, that's more than enough time. If you run out if battery, go recharge, and try again as many times as necessary. You will find it eventually. What does it do? Nothing. But you can sell it in the store for a hefty sum of 6000 Simoleons, making it the most expensive/profitable thing in the game.
