You have to find Marcus Brenan, he will be a grey person on your map. Talk about magic, politics and religion until you are sincere friends. Then add him to your guild.

But there's no grey people on my map and I can't find him anywhere and I've looked in the tavern and everything!!!! Help!!!!

It took me forever to recruit a wizard! I was basically doing all what was suggested here but to no avail! Finally, I thought that there may be a limit to how many people are in your Guild (I had three) and picked one of mine and removed him from my Guild. Immediately after that I was able to recruit the wizard! I still think that all the suggestions are helpful, in case of a difference in alignment and what not, but if you already have 3 people in your Guild, you may not be able to recruit anyone. So remove one and see if it works. Good Luck! I love this game!

I found an archmage which I presumed was some sort of wizard and they have a blue weapon which looks really magical but when I look at my quests nothing's changed so I guess they can't be the right person but I seriously cannot find any one else.

An Archmage is a wizard (actually it higher than a wizard).
I have Thali Suddin the Archmage and she casts a flame spell.

I see no one of that name in the game, but I only have 2 people in my Guild

Neither did I, but I found a different wizard. I think if they have a blue weapon they are a wizard. Sorry if wrong.

he is, but he cannot be recruited. You have to wait for a visitor with the wizard class to arrive.

I hired a guy called gunther curious. I found him on my map too, randomly. He's a wizard

Walk around meeting the grey people on your map then click the book and exclamaton mark icon in the bottom right hand corner and choose relationships look at the person to see if they're a wizard they're occupation will be listed below their name then simply friend them until the "Add to Guild" sign lights up yellow.
