I'm unable to recruit people into my guild, each person citing that we are too different. How to I resolve this issue especially when needing to recruit the knight to overthrow the kingdom?

Probably your alignment doesn't match the Sims you're trying to recruit. If you go to the Persona screen (the "brain" tab showing your name and profession), you can see if your alignment is evil (horns) or good (halo). When you click on a Sim, you can see that Sim's alignment. If your alignment doesn't match the knight, you'll need to change it to recruit him. I think you can steer your alignment by your actions and by choosing to do quests for good or evil Sims. Also note that you can only have max 3 Sims in your guild, so you may have to throw somebody out before recruiting the knight.

Also if your alignments are conflicting you can simply kill the SIM and another, knight, legend, wizard etc. Will appear in the kingdom. Saves the trouble of realigning your own character which can be some work if you've spent substantial time building your alignment one way or the other.

The same happened to me, just go to church and pray a lot, thats what I did. Then go to the little scroll at the bottom right hand corner of the screen and go to your 'Persona'. And the second thing down is your alignment. If it's green you can add the knight to your guild, if it's red go and prey ;)
