I bought some food items from the supermarket but I don't know how or where to locate them..

Those are not food Items, those are Seeds or Baking ingredients. To use seeds click on a garden plot, you will see that you no longer have to pay for those seeds because you already have them in your inventory. To use the baking ingredients click on your oven and you will again see that you no longer have to pay for baking ingredients as you already bought some.

A birthday cake is placed in inventory and can only be used if you want to age a sims if you buy another then you will have 2 cakes if you spent 5 lp it’s only good for one useSearch for more answers for The Sims FreePlay or ask your own question here.
