When you are controlling a sim, at the bottom centre of the screen there is a button with a stick figure on it to change the sim's clothes. It doesn't tell you their Personality there, but when you first open that menu your sim (left side of the screen) will do the action associated with their personality type. For example, if the sim is a bookworm, the sim will be reading a book (they will quickly put it away though so pay attention.) if they are romantic they will have a rose in their mouth and bow. Flirty will blow a kiss, geek will play a video game, tycoon will flash money and hold a cane, and socialite will hold a cocktail glass. There are others I can't remember, but you will probably be able to figure it out from what they are doing.
