4. Raiden – The Try-Hard
Here's someone whose entire existence is a travesty. Formed like some sort of Frankenstein (‘s monster, for the anti-colloquialism snob), Raiden is made up of patchwork ideas. Focused to appeal to a new demographic and toned down to persuade other groups, this operative from the Metal Gear series is the antithesis to the war hero that is Solid Snake. Where one is a rugged survivalist, the other is a slender sissy. It's not exactly pleasing to fumble around with that, as opposed to the established option.
Raiden's insecurity is so obvious that the original, female-friendly idea was torn to shreds for a more literal impersonation of Frankenstein. Metal parts, up to the jaw, were conceived to now desperately pander to another audience. It's just sad. Its ridiculousness achieved peak status with a game spawned from a Fruit Ninja clone, where cutting up stuff is the entire idea. It tacked on a completely ludicrous plot, but no real substance to save this monstrosity.
Not even the creators themselves are too fond of their invention, as Raiden is spoofed with a parody character in Metal Gear Solid 3. Hopefully, someday Snake will face the robot and send it to the scrapyard, where it belongs.
The butthurt in the comments is more entertaining than the article.
I was actually hoping for a list of video game characters who seem more like the bad guys in there games expect I find the same fanboy hate rants you could find on most video game comment sections on YouTube.
If all you do is write about hatred against any topic, maybe you should consider getting a life.
I really think you guys bringing the hate too far. I mean throwing blind stereotypes just to get a few comments that agree. I mean if you guys think that why don't you just get an engine and make games yourself. The Companies are making money. You're making next to nothing hating on this.
We want to see Nathan Drake die for being such an idiot. He is a crappy aim and a stereotype. I kill an NPC of him all the time in Garry's Mod for fun.
Commander Shepherd should also die, I hate his stupid voice, and no matter how much I change his appearance, he is not a personal character, just a wussy made by someone else.
Also any space marine character in video games needs to die because space marines are too incompetent.

All this sounds like to me is a list of heroes you HATE yourself, not who should actually lose. Take Raiden for example, he is a badass ninja now and his game is about cutting things up. Sure, its different, but how is it a "Fruit Ninja clone"? All it is, is a new style to try for gaming!

Leo was a great character, he had very little time to adapt to piloting a mech and you are complaining? Get over yourself.
Half of these characters don't belong on there. Especially Raiden. I don't see why MGS fans hate a spin off so much.

Technically, "Leo Stenbuck" did lose (more than once), hence why he's not the main character in the second game.

Why isn't Link on the list? Yea he's one of my all time favorite Hero's, but I do want to see him lose at least once. Hell, the Hyrule Historia is separated into 3 different times and one of them is THE HERO HAS FALLEN. So why hasn't this been done yet? Link, Zelda and Ganondorf are always reborn again so why not just do it...
Why isn't Luka on this list. You know, Monster Girl Quest... Luka being the main character. Losing has its uh, bonus's you know.

I just wanted to see Lightning die a horribly brutal death...instead, I got her ugly smiling face in that preview with the journalist. And I thought Tidus was bad.
The more I play FF7, the more I dislike cloud. If Vincent killed him half way in after Cloud finds out what he was I would have respected the game and Cloud a hell of a lot more. Instead we're stuck with emo-Cloud for another dozen hours.

Maybe that's what make the opening story of the Paper Marios so interesting. Judging from #2, Ruca from Tales of Innocence could also make it on this list, and that's unfair for both.
I was hoping Nathan Drake would get the dressing down he deserves. Joel and Ellie from the Last of Us as well. David was closer to a real hero, trying to restore some semblance of order in the post-apocalyptic world, instead of just murdering because "f*ck you, we don't like you."
just to be clear to you dude without Desmond or simply another character in his place the whole story would be pointless for AC i mean without him the story didnt work his ancestors memories held the key to saving the world from death so he is the only important character in the game considering you alone control the animus fool babbling bout which he does not know
