1) Are the halo books really that good? would you recomend reading them? do they clear some things up about the game?
2) At the end of halo 2 (I only beat it on beginner) where is cortona? did Master chief just leave her there. I don't really remember the ending too well.

I was watching X-play, and they showed the legendary ending, and is the only thing difference just the black guy hugging the Elite?
4) If you get a skull and you go to play on-line will the effect carry over to the on-line play?
5) Can you have more than one skull effect on at once.
6) Any good tips for playing on legendary for halo 2?
7) If I beat halo 2 on beginner and then go play it on legendary but only the last level will I get the alternate ending?

1) I've read all 3 books and they are the best if you're a fan of Halo read the books they tell the story before you reach Halo on the first game.
2) Watch through the credits and you'll see and on the first Halo do the same if you want

11) I think the graveminds a flood just alot bigger and it speaks.
12) The flood are a parasitic form of beings which are on all of the 7 Sacred Forerunner Rings.
They were accidentally dug out of installation 04 (the first Halo) and escaped but the Master Chief blew them up.
The Flood on Halo 2 are from the Heretics releasing them from Installation 05 when the Arbiter tries to kill their leader.
The Heretics probably let them loose as a last effort to kill the Arbiter before the Arbiter killed them but it went wrong and the Flood could not be contained.
The flood then escaped the Heretics' base and began to spread all over the second Ring and in High Charity (the Covenant Holy City).
Halo 2 doesn't go in deeper than that because the game is over by then and you are left with many questions which I'm guessing is on purpose to make even MORE people buy Halo 3.
By the way, I heard that Halo 3 is planned on being released the day that PS3 is being released to put Sony out of business.

You should really read the first one if you want to know about Chief's life before he was a Spartan, how he met Cortana, how the Mjolnir armor was made, why the war started, everything.
2)Cortana stayed with Gravemind answering his questions about who-knows-what.
3)The elite and Johnson are fighting for an assault rifle and they see the Pillar of Autumn is going to explode and they hug.
But they must have found a way off of the ring because in Halo2 the sarge is still there and on the first level a marine asks Johnson how he survived and he said that it was classified.

12)The flood are a parasite that are imprisoned on each Halo, the Covenant found the Flood on instalation 04 (Halo1) and they got their asses kicked.
Then the Humans joined the party later on and also got their asses kicked, except that there were some survivors, including Chief.
After that, the Flood got out of the prison they were in and started infecting everyone and Chief had to blow up the Pillar of Autumn to destroy Halo.
I think the Flood were used to identify organic lifeforms.
13)You don't have to beat the game on legendary and that's the only map you could unlock. The rest you're supposed to download if Bungie makes them.
