If a person is on fire find a lake, shower, pool, bathtub, or something that your sim can go into that has water. I haven't tried a sink, and I'm not sure if that works, but if that doesn't work a shower should be close by. If the object is furniture. (kitchen cabinets, stove, etc) then when you get close to it, you should be able to hit thea button, then select the blue button that says "Put out fire" to use a fire-extinguesure. Or you could go into another room and wait for the fire department to come, but that only happens if you have at least 3 fire alarms in your house. (Which you can find in the kitchen section)
~Hope this helped! ;)

If your home is on fire then click the fire and press extenguish

Guest answered:

Yeah using a shower lake or pool can extinguish the fire
But getting to close can cause you to catch on fire with if you're a single sim can cause death so it's better to flee the house
And your your phone to call services and ps.you can not
Put your self out in the tub

On Sims 3 how I put put the fire in the house or outside all you do is get on your phone, then click services, then it will say fire dept. And they will come and put out the fire. But if your on fire hurry and go to a pond, pool or any water!

Guest answered:

I have tried to use the points noted here but if you catch fire, use a lake, shower, pool etc to put yourself out. I would suggest if your house is on fire to wait until the fire department come but I'm not sure how long it will take. Overtime I go towards the fire and press "extinguish" not only does it not put out the fire, but my person catches fire even when they're not near it

I had a fire that would not go out. 6 people with fire extinguishers couldn't put it out. 3 firemen came and stood in the fire and made zero attempt to put it out. Just stood there in the fire and waved while my sims were burning to a crisp.

I had to just quit the game, because it was killing my sims, and nothing I did or my sims did would put out the fire.
