The Surge 2 is an action-RPG game where you are able to create your own character and backstory. The game is played from a third-person perspective and begins when you awake from a coma and find yourself inside a prison at the city of Jericho, a wasteland urban area that was quarantined after the mysterious blackout. Your objective is to find your way through the city while upgrading your equipment in order to survive. The Surge 2 is the sequel to 2017's The Surge. Check out our Walkthrough, Guide, Strategy page to get help in the game.

Loading Screen Map

Trying to figure out where you are using the camera attached to your character to read the bulletin board maps that are posted around the city can be difficult. When you enter a new area spend a few moments studying the map which takes over the screen when you load as this will be the same one that appears on the bulletin board maps and doing so will give you some idea as to where you are and where you need to go.

Take it Slow

There is no need to rush, Jericho City and its various districts are huge and each contains a multitude of secrets and shortcuts for you to discover. Take your time, make sure you search everywhere for new equipment, crafting materials, and routes you can take advantage of.

Dismember Body Parts

The signature mechanic of The Surge 2 is dismembering body parts from their original hosts to earn loot and you should be looking to do this whenever possible. When you square up against an enemy the targets you have available to attack are their right or left arm, right or left leg, torso, or head. When you manage to damage a body part enough you can spend some battery power to chop it off. The loot you will recieve will depend on what item the enemy is wearing or holding.

Selecting Armour and Weapon Types

It is advised that you spend time experimenting with the different weapon types and armour perks in the opening area to find what suits your playstyle. Athough dismembering offers plenty of materials you will discover that upgrading costs Scrap and materials together so save resources by only investing in what your are going to use.

Upgrade your Armour

To upgrade your armour you need pieces that correlate to the piece you're upgrading. For example if it is legs you want to upgrade you will need to chop off any enemy legs to get leg materials. The key to managing this mechanic is being aware of the resources you have and the resources you need. Let your upgrade requirements dictate your combat choices.

Bank Tech Scraps

Tech Scraps are used to buy things, upgrade things, and used to level up. If you die, they end up in a package that's left at the place you died. You can avoid this from happening by using the Medical Bays and banking your Tech Scrap. Doing this will allow you to save it for the level ups which get far more expensive as you get further into the game.

Break Boxes

Scattered throughout the world of The Surge 2 are destroyable boxes that are either plain wood or black with writing on them. These boxes will often hide secrets, the former will often have items concealed within, while the later usually denotes a shotcut of some kind.

Unreachable Shortcuts

As you progress through The Surge 2 you will come across plenty of locations that you will not be able to immediately reach. To access these areas will require obtaining new items or abilities to get past an obstacle. You may want to consider tracking these things outside the game by making notes of the item and location to help you not miss any boxes.

Charge Injectables

In The Surge 2 Injectables are your healing items. Make sure you use the battery power you have built up to charge them otherwise they are useless and will not save you from dying.

Fight Revenge Enemies

Keep an eye out for enemies that have a red skull next to their health bar. These are Revenge Enemies, they appear randomely and are well worth engaging as killing them off will net you a considerable amount of crafting skills.

Boss Fights

It is essential that you make sure to take some charges into each boss fight. The best way to do this is to fight a few weaker enemies before tackling the boss fight so you build up your battery power. Doing so will increase your chances of being successful.
