The oracle of ages...... One of the best and last games for the gameboy color. It is definately safe to say that oracle of seasons and oracle of ages was the highlight of the color. Ages took all that was great from The legend of zelda games into one creating a suspensful and brain challenging game.
The graphics have something to be desired, although good for the gameboy color, there is room for improvement, The picture is clear, the characters are well defined, The big downside is the typical gamboy color graphics, Its an updated version of the atari. Just more and smaller DOTS. But taking that it's from an earlier portable system it's a solid 7-7.5.
And of coarse the sound. Very good compared to it's other gameboy brothers, Ups , well theres a good harmonic background to start, and music and or sounds that go with any scary, romantic, or exiting moment in the game. But the big turn off for the sound in the oracle of ages is no talking, Which does make the game somewhat hard to understand for some, but definately one of the better sounding games from gameboy. The sound gets a good 8 out of 10.
So you can not really tell about a game from just sounds and graphics, so, lets talk about the game itself. You start out a boy, nothing in hand untill you same a aquantance of nayru (oracle of ages). You save her open a barrier and later she gives you the wooden sword zelda intrusted to her. Thus starting a chain of events from meeting the sorceress of darkness, to a hard battle defeating her. Its a mind twisting and suspensfull game. The greatest to come from gameboy. A perfect and undoubted 10.
You go through the levels, kill some monsters, get rewards, and finish the game. There is but one incredibly big turn off to this game, after your through you must have the sequal the oracle of seasons to continue, which was a big dissapointment, If you don't have seasons you basically restart with a password, or finish off your game and try to complete the maps, or get all the items, or both. Really big downer with the ending. But never the less, a good game.
Overall it's forlack of a better word, a legend and a encore. The best and last game as said for the gameboy color, and I think I speak for all the zelda fans when I say gameboy color saved the best for last, For this all is a 9 of 10 for a nice game, that will surely be continuing to attract more fans.
