The Wall of Flesh

Before tackling the Wall of Flesh, and probably gear to go into Hardmode, here are a few recommendations regarding Equipment. Since the Wall of Flesh travels at a fixed and predictable path, you may use this to your advantage. Below are a few recommendations:

Recommended weapon is anything that can hit multiple times or pierce. A few notable ones are:

• (Magic)Waterbolt - It can be found randomly in shelves in the dungeon. Use the pickaxe to dismantle shelves you see usually on the dungeon walls. There is a high likelihood that one of those books is the Waterbolt.

• (Magic)Vilethorn - It can be dropped from a Shadow Orb after you break it. The Vilethorn shoots a short range projectile that pierces enemies and hits multiple time.

• (Magic)Demon Scythe - During your exploration of the underworld, or building your Wall of Flesh Arena, you would have most likely come across Voodoo Demons and Arch Demons. These enemies fire off multiple circular blades that spin in place then fly toward you. This is the spell they can drop if you get lucky.

The Wall of Flesh is a massive enemy with four main segments. Its two eyes, its mouth, & its cluster of long range appendages that attempt to bite you called The Hungry which have a limited reach. The Hungry are usually the first to die.

Its mouth spawns leeches that chases players around. The Leeches are a good thing though because killing them always drop hearts to replenish HP.

Quick Tip: One alternative tactic is to not attack the mouth since it spawns leeches. Which in turn, when killed, drop hearts. This may aid the player so that they have a constant supply of HP.

The biggest problem that the Wall of Flesh poses are its eyes. Its eyes fire lasers at you. What makes things trickier is that it is one of its arsenals that gets more powerful the less HP the Wall of Flesh has. However, the eyes also have the least defense and is the best target that you go for.

DO NOT go behind the Wall of Flesh. Its tongue will pull you towards its mouth and deal considerable damage. Also, as previously mentioned, using a Magic Mirror in the middle of fighting the Wall of Flesh will instantly kill you.

Quick Tip: The Wall of Flesh increases its tenacity when its HP gets lower. The lower its HP gets, the faster it will move across the map, its eye lasers will hit harder, move faster and fire a lot more frequently.

Keep attacking it while maintaining a safe distance and the Wall of Flesh should go down easily. Upon dying, the message "The ancient spirits of light and dark have been released" signaling the entry to hardmode.

The Wall of Flesh also drops its loot in a unique way in that the items will be enclosed in a Demonite Brick box If your world has Corruption or Crimtane Brick box if your world has Crimson. This is probably a safety mechanism due to the underworld having a lot of lava.

The Wall of Flesh will always drop a Pwnhammer. It is a special hammer that can break Demon Altars / Crimson Altars.
