Introduction

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a game telling the story of Darth Vader's secret Apprentice, set between episodes three and four. The Apprentice is first stationed as an assassin for Lord Vader, to assassinate all remaining Jedi. However, he soon realizes the error of his ways when he is betrayed by his master and the Emperor. You play as the Apprentice in his goal to assassinate the Emperor and claim freedom for the Galaxy from the Galactic Empire with the aid of power such as Force Lightning and, of course, your light-saber.

Graphics

The graphics are decent. They're not among the best and certainly not the best they could have been, but are at a generally satisfactory level. Movement is realistic, however, facial expressions could have used some sharpening. The graphics and appeal show some realistic qualities but are not stunning to any extent.

6 has been issued for: lack of excellent facial emotion, decent overall quality of graphics.

Sound

Sound is excellent and portrays the original sounds of the light-saber as well as force attacks extremely well. There are no unnecessary sounds during Gameplay and the true environment of the game is sustained, despite the use of music during combat.

9 has been issued for: realism, and exceptional demonstration of original Star Wars sounds.

Gameplay

The nunchuk/remote combination was a good idea in light and was a step forward in the player's experience in the game. However, this caused problems with attacking and combos which are generally difficult to execute at times due to the reactions of the remote in conjunction with your movements. On a positive note, force attacks were very easy to execute.

The game was interesting to an extent and the story-line was excellent with turns in the destiny of the Apprentice as he encounters new people and a love.

8 has been issued for: difficulty with combos as a result of the remote, in exchange for a better experience with the game; and an excellent storyline.

Lastability

Lastability could have used some work. It would have been preferable that the creators allowed the player to travel to any planet he/she wanted instead of limiting them to the destination (even if it's a story they're telling). The game was also very short. However, lastability is bettered because they allow to to re-do the game with a possible alternate ending.

4 has been issued for: a short game, lack of freedom of travel. User has only "main missions". There were not side missions or additional games.

Overall

The Force Unleashed was a good game overall but could have used some additional detail in lastability, the weakest area. I was impressed with the Gameplay and the story-line was excellent and intriguing. Graphics were decent, and sound was excellent.

Reccomended: Star Wars fans, fans of science-fiction, fans of superheroes, fans of adventure/combat.

7 has been issued for the game overall. The overall game rating may be found under the introduction paragraph (first paragraph).

Final Score: 68%
