Soul Calibur II is an exellent fighter. The Gamecube version includes Link as a bonus character. I know that's a rubbish idea because he really doesn't suit the game's setting but neither does Spawn (Xbox verion bonus character) or Heihachi (PS2 verion bonus character). But it's definately a game that beat 'em up fans need.
Awesome. The backgrounds are beautiful and the effects are awesome. Look at Inferno. Just look at him. Have you ever seen anything so cool? I doubt it. It's easily one of the best looking games on Gamecube. But it doesn't just look awesome, it also plays awesome.
Annoying American and English voice-overs stop the sound from getting a perfect 10. Why did they have to do that? There's one person from England and none from the USA. Why can't they have the right accents? Otherwise the sound is awesome, great background music, great effect noises.
Awesome. The best game so far I've played on Gamecube (and believe me I've played quite a few). The only letdown is the the controls can sometimes be a bit dodgy, but it all pays off really. Most characters are useable. Characters such as Maxi, Nightmare, Cassandra and Kilik are awesome. Weapon Master mode rules.
Takes about 30 hours to unlock everything. But there's so much depth that you'll keep coming back for more. Eventually you'll get bored, but everyone egts bored of all games at some point. A game you can always come back to, and keep restarting to re-play the whole thing again. Memorable.
It's the best game I've played for Gamecube, no questions asked. The only agme that comes close to it on Gamecube (which is also a fighting game) is Super Smash Brothers Melee. They're both exellent but overall I think Soul Calibur II slashes Melee down into second palce and gets the first place trophy.
