Best Sniper Rifle Guide

There are two types of sniper rifle in Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts; light sniper rifles and heavy ones. The default sniper rifle you begin the game with is the Tactical XCR 700 which is a light type. Check out our Best Sniper Rifle guide to get help choosing the best weapon is this catagory.

Both the light and heavy types of sniper rifles require you to spend Intel Tokens to unlock the special ammo magazines. You will find that not all of the sniper rifles have the ability to fire AP (armour piercing) rounds which are essential for taking down armoured soldiers in a single shot and for hitting vehicle weak spots. Also consider the rate of fire, although the heavy sniper rifles are capable of killing with body shots and dismembering limbs their rate of fire is slower and they will have lower noise reduction.

Both types of sniper rifles will also have a couple of additional options, the most important of which is the scope and its magnification/zoom level, especially if you need to take out a target from further away. Distance calibration should also be taken into consideration so as to give you more options when aligning your shots with the Dynamic Reticle System (DRS).

Best Light Sniper Rifle

Tactical XCR 700

Although the Tactical XCR 700 is your default sniper rifle it is also the best light sniper rifle in the game. It already comes equipped with a silencer and is capable of loading EMP (Electra-Magnetic Pulse) bullets which will take out turrets. The downside to this sniper rifle is that even after unlocking the special ammo mag you cannot use AP bullets and it has a slow rate of fire since you are chambering another round after you shoot, this unless you are quick can be problematic if you need to take out clusterd targets.

Best Heavy Sniper Rifle

Sturm – Precision

The Sturm - Precision is the most expensive heavy sniper rifle in the game. To get your hands on it you will need to amass a lot of cash and Challenge Tokens. This weapon comes with some great scope options and there is a silencer and special ammo mag that can be unlocked. The Sturm - Precision is also capable of firing AP or explosive rounds making it without doubt the best all round pick when selecting a sniper rifle.
