Money Farming Guide

Shenmue 3 is set in 80's China which makes Yuan the primary currency, to be able to progress in the game you will need to earn this money as it is needed for quests and buying useful items such as the Snake Powder for combat and garlic for HP boost. Make Money Fast in Bailu Village

To get some initial capital early in Shenmue 3 you will be able to Chop Wood. This is one of the most basic ways you can earn money in Shenmue 3 and it will net you around 70 Yuan each time. If you go to the Tao Get Store which is just over the Verdant Bridge and talk to Tao Guanzhong he will give you a wood chopping task. Keep chopping wood until you have around 350 Yuan.

After leaving the Tao Get Store go past the cow paddock and off to the right so you find a few gambling games. Go to Zhong Ziliu's stand and buy 3000 gambling tokens for 300 Yuan. Keep 50 tokens for yourself and go through to the village square, past the old man and turn left to the street sign. When you then get to the Panda Market you will see another sign, take a left and keep going until you reach Sunset Hill. Look for the shop that displays a Yin and Yang sign and enter it. Inside the shop will be the fortune teller Zhu Tianwen who you need to give some money for a Colour Fortune to know your favorite colour. Afterwards leave the shop and go to the gambling area that is nearby.

Talk to the man at the gambling area and play 'Flower, Bird, Wind & Moon' and bet 1000 tokens on the colour the fortune teller told you was your favourite colour. The bird is green, the moon is yellow, the wind is blue, and the flower is red. Getting your lucky colour doubles your odds of winning. If you win you get 4x your betting money making it a good way to farm money in Shemue 3. After two hours you will have to go back to the fortune teller to get another reading to find out what your new favourite colour is. Once you are satisfied with the amount you have won return to the Panda Market with your winnings and buy items you can't equip such as gems. You can later exchange these for Yuan. There is a pawnbroker next to the Prize Exchange where the trading can take place.

Make Money Fast in Niaowu

You can make money at Niaowu harbor using the same kind of method as you did in Bailu village. This time you go down the main street of the fishing town until you reach the 'Game' sign where you can gamble. Before entering though go to fortune teller that is situated near the gambling area and get a reading for your favourite colour. Now repeat the process of Bailu village and play the same game, Flower, Bird, Wind & Moon. Bet on your lucky colour to make some easy money and then once you have the desired amount go to the Prize Exchange at the Prize Cafe, up the stairs where you will be able to buy gems and sell to the pawnbroker.
