It is important that you remember to eat food before you engage in battle so you ensure your health is at its highest.Train Regularly
You will not be able to win the various battles you will be in by just levelling Ryo. As you progress through the game the difficulty of the fights will increase and you will need to regularly train to improve Ryo's attack and endurance as doing so will significantly improve his fighting prowess.Learn to Block and Dodge
You can make Ryo block attacks by holding L2, being proficient at doing this will mean you will take less damage. If there are several attacks coming in at once Ryo will be overwhelmed and take some direct hits and it is in these instances you need to dodge. This means moving in the opposite direction the attacks are comming in. If you time your dodge right you will hear a wind whooshing sound that indicates your opponent is open to a counter attack.Learn Skill Moves
You will have to learn from skill books the various specialised moves Ryo can use when fighting an opponent. Take the time to do some sparring so you can find out which ones best suit your play style and also level them up. When you are facing more than one opponent at a time it is important that you do not allow the enemy to flank or get behind you. If this happens you will be wide open to an attack as you will not be able to block or dodge their attack. The best strategy in this situation is to focus on downing one opponent at a time so you have fewer foes to deal with.Get Snake Power
Snake Power is a very useful power-up you can use during a fight to replenish half of your health. You can get it for 270 yuan from Tao's shop which is situated between Verdant Bridge and the Village Square at the beginning of the game. Although expensive this power-up is worth saving up for.Check your Notepad
