Pokemon Red In-Game Trade Listings
Introduced in Pokemon Red was the concept of In-Game Training. This is done with a number of non-playable characters in the game, and they can help you along the way. These Pokemon even grow faster than the Pokemon you catch on your own. However, some of the trades aren't really worth wild, if you actually think about the possibility of catching the Pokemon for yourself.
There Are Nine Possible In-Game Trades:
#1) Mr. Mime On Route 2: The first in-game trade can be found on Route 2 outside the entrance of the Diglett Cave. The Trainer will request in return an Abra, which alone can be difficult to find and catch in the wild. However, Mr. Mime can't be found in the wild, meaning this trade is essential in order to complete the Pokedex.
#2) Nidoran On Route 5: Just north of the Underground Tunnel Exit on Route 5 is a trainer requesting to trade his Nidoran Femal for a Nidoran Male. Since Nidoran can already be found in the game, this trade really isn't worth it. Unless, of course, you'd like your Pokemon growing at a faster rate.
#3) Nidorina On Route 11: The next trade is found on Route 11 where a trainer is offering a trade for their Nidorina for a Nidorino. This trade, like the one above, isn't necessary since you can catch and evolve a Nidoran Female or catch a Nidorina on your own.
#4) Lickitung On Route 18: This is the only way you can obtain a Lickitung in the game, so you really have no choice but to do this trade. The trainer is found upstairs in the Gate on Route 18, and requests a Slowbro in return.
#5) Jynx In Cerulean City: Jynx is other in-game trade Exclusive Pokemon, so you don't really have an option whether or not to do this trade, unless you don't want to finish your Pokedex. The trainer wants a Poliwhirl in return, making this a pretty good trade.
#6) Farfetch'd In Vermilion City: Another exclusive by in-game trade Pokemon, making it, along with the others, a definite must. The trainer only wants a Spearow in return, which isn't too bad to help finish your Pokedex.
#7) Seel In Cinnabar Island: This trainer can be found in the Cinnabar Labs and would like a Ponyta in return. This trade is pretty worthless since you can easily catch a Seel in-game, unless you find it easier to catch a Ponyta in the Pokemon Mansion on the island.
#8) Electrode In Cinnabar Island: This is another useless trade in the Labs on Cinnabar Island, where the trainer wants a Raichu in return for Electrode. Both Pokemon can easily be obtained in-game.
#9) Tangela In Cinnabar Island: There is no need to do this trade, since you can easily catch a Tangela south of Pallet Town. Still, the trainer would like a Venonat in return.
