How to Evolve Pokemon

In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX you need to complete the main story before you gain access to the ability to evolve members or your team. Check out our How to Evolve Pokemon guide to find out everything you need to know about the process.

Before you can access the Luminous Cave, you need to beat the main storyline. The main storyline ends when you are able to defeat Rayquaza and convince it to destroy the Asteroid. When you enter the cave, a giant crystal will talk to you and assess if your Pokemon is ready for evolution. If you have met the requirements and have offered the required items if any, you will evolve and leave the cave anew. Only one Pokemon can be evolved at a time and that Pokemn must be your team leader. Below is a full list of the restrictions when evolving Pokemon.

• Evolution only happens when the Pokemon enters the Luminous Cave. Outside the cave, no Pokemon evolves.

• As the cave is very small, only one Pokemon can enter. That Pokemon must be the team leader.

• The Pokemon that doesn't evolve by leveling up has new methods of evolution:

- Link Cable is required for Pokemon that normally evolve via trading (Example: Kadabra into Alakazam).

- Beauty Scard is required for Pokemon that normally require max beauty (Example: Feebas into Milotic).

- Sun Ribbon is required for Pokemon that normally only evolve during the day (Example: Eevee into Espeon).

- Lunar Ribbon is required for Pokemon that normally only evolve during the evening (Example: Eevee into Umbreon).

- Evolution items that are still in the game are required for Pokemon that evolve using them (Example: Pikachu into Raichu with Thunder Stone).

- Pokemon that needs Friendship to evolve now must have enough IQ.

There will not be any immediate effect once the Pokemon have evolved aside from appearence changes. Stat changes will occur when the Pokemon rises in level. If the Pokemon is already Level 100 when evolving, it must eat Doom Seeds to drop in level, then Leveled Up again.
