Poke`mon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team is about you becoming a Poke`mon. You one day wake up in the Tiny Woods as a Poke`mon with no recollection on being a human or how you came to this world of Poke`mon. You join up with your partner and start a rescue team to help Poke`mon in need. But lately, natrual disasters have been occuring non-stop, such as eathquakes and disappearances. In the game, you start a rivalry with Team Meanies, a gang led by Gengar and his cronies Medicham and Ekans. Later on, you also discover the Ninetales Legend, a local folk-lore that has connections on how you became a Poke`mon, and that it has something to do with the balance of the world. Learning this, it's up to your rescue team to set the world straight.
The graphics of the game are wonderful. You can really tell that a lot of effort was put into the spriting of the game. However, you can tell some characters were put into too much detail, and others had too little detail. The actions that characters perform (ex: standing) were sometimes repeated on other characters or were closely similar (ex: Umbreon and Mighteana). The backgrounding was also a great feat of the game. My favorite background is in Mew's Friend Area. The sea flowed perfectly and even reflected the sun.
The music is very creative. There is a variety of songs, sounds, ect. All the songs, I think, compliment the atmosphere of the area they are assigned. But, sometimes, the sounds of attacks are delayed and get confusing at times. Unlike the songs, the sounds of attacks are not as varied and some sounds are repeated in entirely different attacks.
The gameplay is exceptional. The storyline runs very well, even ater you beat Rayquaza. At some parts the story does get a bit slow, but none the less, the game is still far from boring. The movements run smoothly, and it's very easy to navigate through dungeons.
The game is very addictive. But when you run off the storyline (after beating Rayquaza), it does get abit old. The only thing to look forward to is getting Lucario Rank, getting every Poke`mon to join your team, and facing legendaries such as Lugia and Mew-Two.
Overall, the game is great. As I said before, the storyline is creative, the graphics and sound is amazing, and gameplay is very easy. I would reccomend this game to gamers who have just gotten into action games or Poke`mon trainers wishing to know what the life of a Poke`mon is like!
