There have been many Pokemon games released; Gold, Silver, Fire Red, leaf green, ruby, Sapphire and now the White and Black versions. The new versions may have a new title and they may have new Pokemon but really is it any different than it's predecessor?
Most Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games have come far (when not comparing it to the consoles such as the PS3 or Xbox 360)when it comes to graphics. However, this is not the case with Pokemon Black (nor white for that matter). The graphics have stayed pretty consistent through the years; which for most is not necessarily a good think unless of course the gamer doesn't have high expectations.
Some of the architecture has been changed (such as the Pokemon Center and Pokemart)but not very impressive with the technology that we have today.
The one upside is that there is now some 3-D scenes which might impress some players at first but in the end it's still nothing compared to what the graphics designer could of done.
The sound/music, like the graphics, was not very impressive. Again it's consistent to the games previously released.
With the technology we now have surround sound which most game systems support, unfortunately the DS and DSi are not one of them, making Pokemon Black's sound and music bland.
Therefore the player will not hear trumpets, guitars or drums, just the sound of the piano's riff.
This also (and unfortunately) has not changed much. The beginning of the game goes about it's usual instructions (what are Pokemon, the goal of trainers, etc. Etc. Etc.) as well as choosing your gender as well as your name and one of the other main characters (Usually he/she is your friend).
Afterward end up talking to your mom, running into your friend and getting into trouble forcing you as well as your friend to pick a Pokemon (either water, fire or grass)and battling it out against a wild Pokemon and defeating him. Then you talk to the professor and apologize for having to use his Pokemon which catches his interest and practically forces you to do his bidding.
The game is a bit lengthy which is always good news for the player. However with catching 400 and some Pokemon it can become dull, even with the new Gear which allows players to trade across the world (as long as they know each other's friend code) as well as downloading new skins for the Pokedex and among other things.
Otherwise players pretty much go through the same routine as with any other Pokemon game (Catching, training, beating the Pokemon League, etc.)
Overall both Pokemon versions are the same as those previously released just with new characters and some new Pokemon added. The plot has some tweaks but nothing majorly impressive. The only thing it really has going for it besides the new Pokemon is, as I mentioned before, the gear which allows access to the internet.
