What are the Best Weapons?

During a match you will find littered throughout the map all sorts of weapons you can pick up and use, these will include pistols, SMGs, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles and melee weapons. Trying to find the best weapon can be a bit tricky as they each have their own characteristics and you can only try out a limited number in a match. What follows next is what we consider to be the best weapon in each category.

Pistol

P18C

Although the Austrian P18C is the lowest damaging pistol in the game it has the highest damage per second due to the fact that it is the only fully automatic pistol in the game. It has a high recoil and and fires 1,000 rounds per minute making it lethal at close range. Like all pistols it is not suitable for long-range engagements. There are only two attachments for the P18C, the suppressor and the extended clip.

Submachine Guns (SMG)

Vector

This South African semi-automatic submachine gun is the best close range weapon in the game. The Vector has a low recoil and high firing rate and has the benefit of having the most attachment slots of all the SMGS to further increase its performance. The downside to Vector is its very small magazine capacity of only 13 rounds which makes getting an extended magazine for it a priority.

Shotgun

S686

The S686 is the most powerful shotgun in the game. When pressing the trigger twice in quick succesion at close range this hunting gun used by pigeon shooters will unleash both pellets almost instanteously to devestating effect, more often than not obliterating your opponents. The S686 shotgun can also be a powerful weapon at long range, especially when fitted with a Shotgun choke that reduces pellet spread.

Assault Rifle

M416

The M416 is a versatile assault rifle that has the ability to handle close, medium, and long range encounters. What makes this weapon a popular choice amonst players is that it allows all 5 attachments (sight, muzzle, magazine, foregrip, and stock). The M416 has two firing modes (single and automatic), is easy to use and does decent damage. More often than not this army issue weapon can be found in military loot zones.

Sniper Rifle

AWM

The AWM is a large caliber bolt action sniper rifle designed for extreme range sharpshooting, it deals out the highest amount of damage out of any gun in the game. The downside to this weapon is the long reload time between shots and the unique ammo it uses which can only be found in supply crates.

DMRs

Mini 14

The Mini 14 has good handling and very little recoil and is popular with law enforcement, security personnel, hunters, ranchers and target shooters. It is a compact and lightwieght semi-automatic rifle that can use all sniper rifle attachments for the muzzle and magazine slots and can also be used in conjunction with any type of optic sight. Despite its damage output not being particularly high the Mini 14 is one of the most well-rounded guns in the game.

Light Machine Gun

M249

The M249 light machine is widley used in the U.S. Armed Forces and has the largest fire rate in the game with the capability to fire 100 bullets in less than ten seconds. Despite its high fire rate and damage output the recoil is relatively easy to control. The downside to this weapon is its heavy weight. The M249 can only be found in supply crates.

Melee Weapon

Pan

The cast-iron cooking pan is PlayerUnknown's iconic melee weapon and is capable of killing an unarmoured opponent with one hit to the head. The pan is bulletproof and can act as a small shield that is able to block shots from all ranged weapons in the game, including shotguns and the AWM.
