You can. If your sim is upstairs and you're viewing downstairs to where you can't see your sim, click on the LS (Left Stick). Same goes for your sim if he or she is downstairs and you're viewing upstairs to where you can't see your sim, click on the LS (Left Stick). This only works if your sim is either upstairs/downstairs to where you can't view them. If you can see your sim while he or she is upstairs/downstairs, you cannot click on the LS (Left Stick) to view either or.
