Evil West is a third-person shooter where you take control of a Vampire Hunter. Get our best Evil West cheats and tips below as well as a guide for this game which is available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Take control of Jesse Rentier, a vampire hunter who is one of the last agents of a clandestine vampire-hunting organization that protects the American frontier from supernatural monstrosities. Jesse is equipped with powerful firearms including a six-shot pistol, a rifle and a flamethrower, and melee weapons including a gauntlet that can accumulate electrical energy and an axe.
Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include why you should check out all the silver chains in an area and the best combat strategy when faced with an attack from a horde of different types of enemies. As well as these hints and tips, we also have a Beginners Guide here which goes into more details on some of the tips we have below:
If you are ever unsure where you should be heading in Evil West you simply have to look out for silver-looking chains. These jangling loops tend to hang over anything interactable which will more often than not point you in the right direction when interacted with. Whenever you enter a new area for the first time it is recommended you quickly scout around to see where these singlets are.
They are always worthwhile checking out before you head to the next arena as they can lead to unique chests which will contain skins to change your appearance, but can also obtain new perks and upgrades.
Although it is recommended that you check out all the silver chains in an area before you move on it is important that you are aware that Evil West has a tendency to hide progression points behind them. This means once you interact with the chains there is a possibility that you will be permanently blocked off from collecting certain unique chests in the mission.
The only way to retrieve them is to reset the mission. If you stop and look at where the chains are situated you can sometimes figure out whether the chain is of the progression variety. Take a look at our Collectibles Guide to find out the locations of all the collectibles in Evil West.
One of your main priorities should be to upgrade your firearms. Although at the start of Evil West your six-shooter and lever-action rifle are more than adequate you will soon find as you advance in the game that you will need to rely on your weapons more to take down the tough enemies you will encounter.
Always add energy upgrades to your revolvers and rifle whenever you are able to as doing so will significantly buff their damage and add things like charged shots and chain lightning. Be warned though, energy upgrades are expensive, costing a few thousand credits per upgrade. Take a look at our Weapon Tier List to see what the best weapons are in Evil West.
As you proceed through Evil West's story you will find yourself fighting all sorts of Undead Ghouls and monsters from folklore. The best strategy to fight this evil horde when it attacks you at once is to take down the sharpshooters and ranged goons first, then move onto the larger brutes, and finally the resident Elite or mini-boss. Don't be too concerned about the basic minions, they are just nuisances that get in the way and can be dealt with last.
Ok, we got you... But not on this page, check out our Evil West Collectibles Guide for that info.
