I think you mean what move, because the game itself does not matter, nor does the system you are playing the game on.
You need the move Cut. It is an HM and you get it after beating Cilan/Chili/Cress. Teach the move to a compatible Pokemon and then press A when facing the tree.

Teach "cut" to a Pokemon, then go to the tree and press the "a" button. There you go. To move the rock by the dream yard, use strength.
