How do I beat red?

Really what you need to do is level up you whole team of Pokemon. Just one high level Pokemon won't be enough. You also need healing items as well. All his Pokemon are around level 80. His team is Pikachu at level 88, Venusaur at level 84, Charizard level 84, Blastoise 84, Lapras 80, Snorlax 82. Having a high level electric Pokemon on your team might help some.

Train all of your pokemon. I managed to beat Red with several different teams where no pokmemon broke level 80.

Mewtwo : flamethrower,phychic,ice beam and thunder/thunderbolt level 80

Have 1,2 low level Pokemon so when pikachu uses volt takle he gets hit with mager recoil

I would suggest a ground type that won't be killed by pikachu, like Donphan, a fire, psychic, ice or flying for venusaur, a grass or electric type for blastoise and lapras, and a REALLY strong fighting type for snorlax. Also I would suggest having all of your Pokemon at least level 78.
