Once you wake up the Snorlax in front of Diglett Cave, you can go through the Cave. If you go through the cave, you end up near Pewter City. After you defeat Brock (Pewter City Gym Leader), head south of Pewter City. You will have to work your way through the Viridian Forest. If you do that, you will end up in Viridian City.

Head south from Pewter. Use the in game map and find a route, that's why you have a map.
