Ever since I bought a red turnip from Joan and got the turban from wendal joan wont let me buy them anymore every week she's out.

Maybe if you finish trading the turban for another item she will let you buy them again.

It has nothing yo do with the trading quest. It might just be that your unlucky.
I've had the same rotton luck, I've got the turban, but a couple weeks later shelet me buy red turnips again.
