Hi my sister has had this game a while now and I have quite a bit of money and she keeps buggin me to get this she sez it's realy good and she ses you can visit each others town and I wanted to know if that was really true

Yes, it's true. You can visit people locally or via Nintendo WFC. You need their friend code to join over WFC, though. (If they have a friend code, it gets added automatically when you communicate locally.)
Having multiple copies can be quite lucrative, since fruit from one town will sell for 5X as much if you take it to the other town (unless it's the same type)
