I have a few question. Id rather for jakieboy to answer but any one can. Can some find out for sure if you really get a dog buy getting the golden shovel and talking to resstti. And how do you use the gate seed?

... That was a joke.
Anyway about your question. You can't get a pet dog by getting the Golden Shovel and talking to Resetti, this must have been a rumour. I always have a Golden Shovel and even a Golden Watering Can with me and Resetti tells me off quite often! I don't have a dog.
As for the gate seed, I don't use seeds, as they can ruin the game accidently or intentionally. So I don't know your answer. Sorry!

I have a golden axe,slingshot and shovel yet I haven't got a dog
I've had k.k in my town and biscuit but they came then went
