This is done by obtaining a certain amount of medals. You can earn medals by playing Battle Matches against other players. However, if you drop below the required amount of medals for a certain Division you will fall to a lower Division. You can always keep track on how many Medals you have and the amount you require to unlock each Division by tapping the 'Division' icon that is located in the middle of the main menu.
