Introduction

This is a great game. I love the Metroid series, and this is probably second best (best being Echoes for gamecube). Unfortunately, I only have the free demo that comes with the first few shipments of the DS, but already I can see the full version being awesome (I live in the UK so it's not out yet).

Graphics

Graphics are quality. The second I put this in my Nintendo DS and switched it on, I knew I was gonna love the looks of this game. This is the sort of thing I'd expect from the Gamecube, but you can't expect rubbish graphics on the Nintendo DS, can't you? (Robots being the only exeption)

Sound

Like the graphics, the sound is great snd comes out real clear. Both the soundtrack AND the sound effects are wickid, and the gun sound sounds so much better than when the game was shown as a demo at E3 last year. What a shame they don't do soundtrack CDs for games.

Gameplay

The gameplay is fairly smooth, but sometimes it's a bit fiddly controlling Samus with the stylus. However, this is solved instantly by putting the stylus back in it's slot, strapping the thumb strap around your thumb and using that instead. Apart from that, all the controls are great and gameplay is a smooth as anything.

Lastability

Since I don't have the full game, I wouldn't know how long this will last you, but the demo is completed very easily. Regulator mode becomes as easy as Spyro the Dragon within minutes, survival mode is easy to get the high score since metroids keep appearing, making this the mode that keeps on giving, and pretty much, Morph Ball mode is pretty much the one I had trouble with... Then I found out it's easier using the D-Pad and I sussed that to a T. I'm sure the full version will be better though, since Nintendo have promised a massive adventure.

Overall

Overall, this is one of the best games on the DS, and even manages to surpass Super Mario 64 DS. The only thing that needs improving is the control with the stylus, but apart from that, this is a whole load of fun which I assure you will enjoy loads.

Final Score: 78%
