Introduction

Alright everyone, I will have to ask that you all bare with me because this is only my second review. I am going to try and cover everything that needs to be said, so I hope that everyone who reads this review will gain something from it. Whether you find it a useful review, or one that blows everything out of proportion, I hope that you all gain something from it. Now to begin the review.

Notes:

Metal gear Solid 3: Snake Eater takes place in the year 1964. You will need to remember this throughout the game, and the review or else you might become confused. Also, please keep in mind that the character that you are playing as is not the same Snake character that you have to play as in both Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The character that you play as in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake eater is actually Big Boss, you could also say that Big Boss is Snake's genetic father since Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Solidus were cloned from Big Boss's DNA.

On another note, since Metal Gear Solid 3 takes place in 1964, which is shortly after the cold war took place, and means that this is a prequel to Metal Gear Solid. So please, do not expect to see, or hear about any of the characters that may have grown familiar with in Metal Gear Solid, or Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. This means that you will not see Mei Ling, Meryl Silverburgh, Naomi Hunter, Hal "Otacon" Emmerich, Vamp, Liquid Snake, Solidus, or Colonel Campbell. You will not see these characters anywhere in the game, and nor will you hear any references to them, so just forget about them for now.

Since most of these characters have not even been born yet, it would not make any sense if any of them were mentioned in any area, or part of the game. Also, keep in mind that FOXHOUND has not been created yet either. That means no Gray Fox, Vulcan Raven, or any mentions of any other character from FOXHOUND.

Alright, that was just to cover any confusion that someone may have had regarding the time-line of the game. Now that that is out of the way, I will get on with the actual review...

Graphics

The game looks amazing. I cannot describe the graphics for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake eater any other way, apart from amazing. The game gets a solid Nine outta Ten in graphics because it is really that good. Big Boss, Eva, her bust, Colonel Volgin, young Ocelot, all the characters, no matter who they are, look absolutely fantastic.

I am dead serious, they all look great. Everything is detailed nicely as well, the body wounds inflicted on Big Boss are shown, and you can easily see where he got hit, and where you need to apply your bandages and all that other stuff. The other details that are normally small things in other Playstation 2 games look great and this game, and everything is covered. Big Boss's footprints are left in the mud, only to be slowly swallowed up by the mud as it slides back into place.

When Big Boss lights up one of his signature Cigars, you can clearly see the cigar itself light up. I was very impressed when the cigar did not let out a lot of smoke until Big Boss actually took a puff of his cigar. You could see him breath in and out with each puff that he took of his cigar. When Big Boss was running for a long time, you could actually hear him breathing, and panting hard.

This amazing effect was amazing doubled by the graphics of when he would bend over and let out breaths which you could clearly see until he got his breath back. Every gun was made in excruciating detail, I mean the graphic designers did not leave anything out. They made the graphics in this game perfectly.

The details in this game were amazing. The characters were amazing, I mean honestly, even the enemy soldiers looked great! The crates, and walls, and trees, the ground, the back ground, the sky... All of the things that are normally very poorly done in most Playstation 2 games, especially war games...was done perfectly in Metal Gear Solid 3.

This game was utterly amazing, brilliant. I do not think that it was possible for the game to look any better than it originally did on the Playstation 2.

I rate them a 9/10.

Sound

As I am sure that a lot of you know, one of the most important things in every single video game that gets released, is the sound track. I am sure that most of you will agree with me when I say that the Sound track, and music in a game can either help make it, or help break it. In this case, the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater soundtrack, just made this game completely awesome.

Music, is very important in any game, it sets the tone, or the mood for every setting, or every scene. Every piece of music that we hear, no matter how horrible, or how breath taking it is, makes us feel some thing in our heart. Whether we feel happiness, anger, sadness, depression, or boredom, every song that is ever made will make you feel something.

As I played throughout the entire game, and progressed through the game, I fell in love with the soundtrack, it made me feel various things at each twist and turn in the game. There was nothing really new with the sound track, it still had the same old music that we all know and love. It had had the same melodies that we have all come to associate with as the music for the Metal Gear Solid Series, but it was...different. I cannot really explain the matter, but it was as they remixed the music, and made it more captivating.

I felt pumped, and ready to take on any one when I heard the familiar music that lets a player know that they have been spotted by the enemy. I felt excitement as I heard the fast paced tone tone that you hear when you enter a special gun battle with an enemy boss.

I felt like a thief...or better yet, like a sly fox when I heard the familiar music when you are just sneaking throughout the enemy's headquarters, and just creeping past all the guards without them knowing any thing. I point that I am trying to get across, is that the music in Metal Gear Solid 3, will make you feel emotions. It will make you feel something!!

Regrettably, I have forgotten the names of the wonderful composers who have created these wonderful works out art, but they have done an outstanding job. The new songs that they have added in, such as the game's theme song called Snake Eater is such a hit, it has won many awards, and the singer even more.

No matter what part of the game you are in, you will feel something with the music.

I DARE you to show me otherwise.

I give the sound, the music, the little sounds that the enemies' make, I give it all a 10/10.

Gameplay

The game-play is also another very important feature in a game that can help it along the way to fame, or leave the game in the dust before it goes anywhere at all. In fact, most of the people that work for companies such as gameinformer, or Tips & Tricks, most often look at the game play and the controls for the game first.

What this means is that they will play the game and judge it on several things such as how easy the game is to play, what you can do with it, how easy it is to get started, and other things like is the game fun to play. I can, without a doubt in my head, say that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is one of the most fun games that you ever play in your life. Right at the very beginning of the game you learn how to play through your contacts and helpers telling you how to complete something if you need help, they will often let you explore the controls first and let you learn how to everything on your own.

The game play in this game is simply amazing, it's simple, and you will enjoy it. The controls are not complicated at all, and you will quickly pick things up and become a master at executing any command that you need to pull off. As for playing the game itself, you will love it. You can climb trees, hang upside down from trees and snipe the enemy, crawl through mine fields and swim through lakes and rivers while enemies are shooting at you from above.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater gets very creative in the things that you can do. The boss battles are hard, but not overly hard for a beginner, and you may even want to fight some of the bosses over, and over, and over again! You can explore every area in the game at your leisure, and if you are hungry then you can eat snakes off the trees, fish out of the rivers, or fruits hanging from the branches.

You get to go on an exciting motorcycle chase, and walk through a river of dead people. You can capture enemies and threaten to kill them so they give you any information that you want. You can knock out a Major, impersonate him, and knock around any enemy soldier or scientist that you want, and they cannot do anything about it because you have the rank of major!

There are so many things that you can in this game that it is out standing! I do not want to spoil anymore of the game play for any readers out there, but I tell you right now that you will enjoy playing Metal Gear Solid 3. It is fun.

I give the game-play, a perfect 10/10.

Lastability

Yes, the reader of this review may be surprised that I have given Metal gear Solid 3: Snake Eater yet another Ten outta Ten. But darn it, this game deserves it! Especially the lastability of this amazing game. You see if I could describe this game in two word, just two, I would call it; OutStanding Masterpiece. When Hideo Kojima and the other people at Konami Productions designed this game, it is obvious to see that they designed this game to be playable for a very long time.

The story line is so incredible, and the ending of the game is so amazing, that you will want to play the game over and over again just to see it one more time! After you beat this game, you might put it up on your shelf, but I know that one time soon in the future, you will start playing this game again. I mean, how could you not? The game has so many things that you need to collect, and so many levels for you to beat, and so many things for you to do that is going to take someone a very long while if they want to beat it.

I am about to reveal to you, the absolute truth. This game came out sometime in the year 2004, and now, 4 years later in the year 2008, I still play Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Every. Single. Day. No, that is not me exaggerating, that is the absolute truth. This is game is so good with it's amazing storyline, fun game-play, beautiful soundtrack, and awesome boss battles that I can guarantee that everyone will play this game more than once.

It does not matter if you play the entire game, or just a specific part that you like, but I know that everyone will play this game more then once. And if somehow, you only play it once, I know that you will not soon forget Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

I give the lastability of this game a perfect 10/10.

Overall

Well, I do believe that my Review has covered everything that needed to be covered. If anyone would like to ask me some questions whether it is regarding my review, or Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater itself, you can contact me by looking in my bio.

That is it, my review is done, and I hope that I convinced everyone to either buy this game, or at the most, give it a try but picking up a copy of it at your nearest Blockbuster. If you do not live near a Blockbuster, then go to the nearest store that lets you rent a game, and try it out.

I give Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for the Playstation 2 console, a perfect, 10 out of 10/10.
