Swords can be made from wood planks, cobblestone, iron ingots, gold ingots, or diamonds. They also require one stick. To create a sword use a crafting table and arrange your materials as follows:

Where X=nothing, W=wood planks (or other material listed), and S=stick.

There are several types of armor. They are made from leather, iron ingots, gold ingots, or diamond. All types of armor require the use of a crafting table.

Helmet:
XXX
LLL
LXL

Chestplate:
LXL
LLL
LLL

Leggings:
LLL
LXL
LXL

Boots:
XXX
LXL
LXL

Where X=nothing, and L=leather (or other material listed).

When making a sword or armor, you cannot mix materials. (You cannot make a sword with one wood plank and one gold ingot, you must use two wood planks or two gold ingots.)
