How to use the Gem Finder

As you progress through Luigi's Mansion 3 you will start to collect a huge amount of money in the form of coins, cash, and gold as you search the hotel rooms, interact with objects around you, defeat ghosts, and open up secret areas. One of the items you will be able to spend it on is the Gem Finder, this How to Use the Gem Finder guide will tell you everything you need to know about this item.

Once you have retrieved the elevator button in Luigi's Mansion 3 you will be able to spend the money you have collected by returning to Professor E. Gadd's lab and purchase items from the Shopping Network. Listed below are some of the items you can purchase and what their purpose is in the game. Remember that these items are optional and the amount of money you have at the end of the game will relate to the final grade you recieve. It is possible to purchase items from the Shopping Network while also retaining enough money to recieve a high grade.

• Gem Finder - $1,000

A cartridge that will reveal gem locations on your map. Each Gem Finder cartridge reveals a single gem.

• Boo Finder - $1,000

A cartridge that will reveal Secret Boo locations on your map. Each Boo Finder cartridge reveals a single Secret Boo.

• Gold Bone - $1,000

Purchase the Gold Bone to have Polterpup revive you in the event your health drops to 0. Can only be used once.

Once you have collected all of Luigi's kidnapped friends and caught all the Boos you will turn your attention towards collecting all the gems. Gems can be found on all of the floors of the hotel, there are 6 gems of varying colours on each of the 15 floors and some of them can be harder to find than others. This is where the Gem Finder which you can buy at the Shopping Network comes in useful. Immedieately you purchase the Gem Finder it's effect will be triggered which is to randomely highlight a gem and place the icon onto your map. You will not be able to choose when to use the Gem Finder therefore you should only buy Gem Finders for after you have cleared up those that are easy to find before spending the 1000 coins on one that will just highlight what you already know.
