Champions

The characters played in League of Legends are called Champions. There are over 100 champions in the current game and the number is growing each month.

Champions are beings that are summoned to fight on the Fields of Justice. They are controlled by a Summoner when they fight but otherwise have free will (with few exceptions).

League of Legends originally featured 40 champions when it was launched, and since release, Riot Games have added champions at a steady pace. The champions are purchasable for use using Influence Points or Riot points. Champions are also free to play when they are featured in the weekly Free Champion Rotation.

For each champion there are skins, which change the appearance of the champion when playing him. Some skins also change the particle effects on spells and some even feature new voice over and evolving models.
