Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Cheats and Tips

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a hack and slash game that is a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, taking place 100 years before the events of that game. In Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity a young soldier named Link and Princess Zelda must travel through the four different regions of Hyrule recruiting mighty champions to help defend the land against an impending attack from Calamity Ganon. Complete Side Missions

Don't neglect the side missions when they appear as they will enable you to earn new materials and also help to level up the characters in your party. Don't leave too many side missions untouched otherwise you will struggle in the last few chapters of the game as your party will be too weak. If you are attempting side missions that have a time limit and you feel there is no way you can complete them in time then it is recommended that you abandon it instead of overworking your thumbs for no reason. To leave a side mission in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity you simply need to press the - button and select 'Exit Scenario' before the time runs out. Doing this will immediately take you backl to the map.

Chain Combos for Extra Damage

Each of the different characters in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has their own unique special which can be triggered by pressing the A button of your controller when their Special guage is filled. If you chain combos together with the Special attack you will be able to do a lot more damage. You will find doing this in the higher difficulty modes crucial to stagger mini-bosses and clear waves of enemies.

How to Perform a Weak-Point Smash

When you encounter formidable enemies that have a defense parameter you will need to continually attack them in order to expose their Weak-Point Guage. As you continue attacking the enemy this gauge will begin to deplete and once it has been fully depleted you will be able to perform a Weak-Point Smash. This is done by approaching the enemy and pressing X on your controller when the prompt appears and will deal a huge amount of damage to the enemy. It is essential that you take advantage of this mechanic whenever you are struggling to defeat a powerful enemy that has a large health pool.

Unlock Bood Moon Battlefields for Better Rewards

In order to trigger a Blood Moon Battlefield in Hyrule Warrior: Age of Calamity you must first clear the final campaign battle - Chapter 7: The Future of Hyrule. Once you have completed this requirement Blood Moon Battlefields will spawn randomly whenever you either complete a campaign battle or a challenge.

The difficulty of Blood Moon Battlefields will be considerably tougher than the campaign battle or challenge you have already beaten but you will be rewarded with stronger weapons and seals and considerably more XP which you will be able to use to raise the level of the characters in your party.

How to Defeat Tough Enemies

In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity you will quickly discover that the tougher enemies such as the boss monsters have a defense parameter which you will first need to continuously attack to break down. Once you have destroyed it a prompt will appear to perform a high damage ultimate attack that will either defeat or stun the enemy. Although you will be able to nullify most enemy attacks by guarding when you are faced with formidable foes it is in your best interests to dodge their blows at the last instant. Timing the dodge correctly will make time slow down allowing you to follow up with a powerful flurry rush.

Fuse your Weapons to Strengthen Them

It is important that you strengthen your weapons whenever possible so you increase their base attack. Failing to do so will basically mean they will be useless when you reach the mid-game as not only will their attack stat be too low they will also have no seals. In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity you can strengthen weapons by fusing them. This means combining the power of multiple weapons together in order to make one stronger weapon and also net it new seals. You will be able to fuse weaons together by visiting the Hylian Blacksmith who can be found next to the Military Training Camp. This process does however cost rupees.

Cook Meals before Missions

As you complete missions in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and donate materials to different icons on the map you will unlock different foods and more meal slots. You will be able to choose what meal you want to cook prior to a mission so it is important that you read the description for each of them beforehand so that you are able to select the dish that will give you the most benefits for the figthts you will likely encounter in them. Each meal will have it's own buff which will last for the duration of the mission. Don't eat meals for the sake of it, save ingredients wherever possible for stages where they will be particularly helpful.

Spend Rupees to Level Up Characters Faster

Once you have unlocked a playable character you need to make sure you level them up appropriately as soon as possible at the Military Training Camp which you will be able to find in the upper part of Central Hyrule. This is something that you need to do and you can make the process quicker by spending rupees. When leveling up characters you will only be able to level them up as high as your highest level character.

Fill the Special Guage Faster

In order to trigger a Special attack so your character can unleash a devastating attack on the enemy you must first fill up the Special Gauges. The quickest and easiest way in which to do this is to defeat minor enemies in the area.

How to Unlock Playable Characters

As well as new characters Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity features playable characters from both Breath of the Wild and past Legend of Zelda games. However, these characters will not be available from the start of the game and will need to be unlocked by either playing through the main campaign or by completing a number of special challenges. Each of the playable characters has unique abilities that you will find helpful as you progress through the game. Unlocking Great Fairies, Monk Maz Koshia, Terrako and Ganon is essential in order to overcome the more difficult challengers and tougher enemies you will encounter.

Don't Forget to use Elemental Rods

Elemental Rods in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a combat mechanic that you can use on an enemy to inflict elemental damage that will stun and also expose and weaken their weak-point gauge. Elemental Rods can be held by all party members and are essentially equippable weapons that take the place of a sword. Don't forget to use Elemental Rods as they are particularly effective against bosses or massive enemies like Lynels.

Octo-Polish Rusty Weapons

As you progress through Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity you will come across 'Rusty' weapons which will not display any stats. It is now up to you whether you want to take a gamble and spend some rupees to de-rust it. In order to do this you need to visit a Blacksmith and complete the 'Rusty to Trusty' quest which will unlock the Octo-Polish which will allow you to de-rust the weapon. This is worthwhile doing as Rusty weapons are typically more powerful than the ones you find in the wild.

Unlock All the Playable Characters

Make sure your first priority is unlocking all the playable charcters. Most of them will unlock via natural gameplay through the main missions. It is essential that you do this otherwise you will not be able to play the endgame missions which require a full party. Once you have unlocked a character you will need to use the Military Training Camp in order to strengthen them.

How to Perform a Flurry Rush

A Flurry Rush is an important move in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity which you must know how to perfrom as it enables you to slow down time for a few seconds and allow you to counter an enemy attack to deal a huge amount of damage.

In order to perform a Flurry Rush you must first dodge an attack the instant before it is about to hit your character. If your timing is correct you will perform a Pefect Dodge which will trigger the slowing down of time. It is at this point you counter by repeatedly pressing the Y button on your controller when the button prompt appears and follow up with a Weak-Point Smash. Make sure you use the Flurry Rush whenever the opportunity presents itself as it will make defeating the tougher foes a lot easier.

Collect Apples to Heal

As you progress through Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity completing the campaign and side missions it is inevitable that at some point the characters in your party will sustain damage. One of the ways in which you can heal them is by collecting apples to replenish the food meter found in the item menu.

Once you have gathered enough apples you simply have to press and hold the L button on your controller to open the items menu and then press the B button to heal the characters in your party with missing hearts. It is recommended that you pick up any apples you come across as you progress through the game as doing so will automatically heal you if your food meter is already full. It is important to remember that your food meter is shared amongst the characters in your party so y..

Explore the Maps

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity features a big open world you can explore and it is worthwhile doing so as each of the maps feature Treasure Skull Chests that contain treasure and Korok Seeds which can be used to get more weapon inventory space. Make sure you explore when it is safe to do so and there is not any time limit.

Get Mipha First in Chapter 2

Once you reach Chapter 2 in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity you will begin the process of unlocking Revali, Mipha, Daruk, and Urbosa. You can unlock these playable characters in any order you wish but it is recommended that you prioritize Mipha first as she is the only character that is able to heal others which is crucial if you are playing on harder difficulties as she will help to keep your party alive.

Find Korok Seeds to get Buffs and Upgrades

In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity there a total of 160 Korok Seeds. A Korok Seed is an item you receive after spotting a hidden Korok on the map. Koroks are small green, plant-like creatures that occupy the world of Hyrule and are typically found in the side missions disguised as flowers, pinwheels, tree stumps, or glowing spots on the ground. You will also find Koroks hidden inside of floating balloons, crates, and Bombable rocks.

Korok Seeds are worthwhile collecting as they can be exchanged for buffs and upgrades that will enable to strengthen up your party for battle.
