In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity you will quickly discover that the tougher enemies such as the boss monsters have a defense parameter which you will first need to continuously attack to break down. Once you have destroyed it a prompt will appear to perform a high damage ultimate attack that will either defeat or stun the enemy. Although you will be able to nullify most enemy attacks by guarding when you are faced with formidable foes it is in your best interests to dodge their blows at the last instant.
