Expansions
Expanding your Dragon City is a key part of the game and one which becomes essential very quickly. You can buy Expansions with Gold or Gems, depending on what you have available at the time. There are also other restrictions in place, such as a certain number of neighbors. You can also buy entire new islands to put your dragons on. Below is a guide to all of the game's expansions, detailing the cost in Gems to instantly upgrade, versus the cost in Gold. You will also see any Neighbor requirements:

Island Unlocks
To unlock the second island, you need 100,000 Gold.
To unlock the Lava Island, the only way is with 25 Gems.
To unlock the Ivory Island, the only way is with 100 Gems!

Yeah neither. But you have to have a facebook account and if some of your friends have dragon city, then they become your neighbours but if you dont have facebook then you cant expand any islands
So I can't get the second island to unlock. The island is full, more than enough money. Any thoughts?
It should say unlock your second island and fill it with dragon for 7500 golds.If you haven't finish expanding the first island then maybe that's why it won't let.You have to expand the first island first

Hey, i feel like im doing pretty good in dragon city how ever my islands are full up and i need to expand them but it says you need neighbours and i have zero so the question im asking is , what are neighbours and how do you get them?
You put this question up on my birthday 😄 so I'll help, on facebook, the people you add or have as friends need to have dragon city, they are your neighbors, your facebook should be connected to your app to be able to have neighbors, add me to start 😄 I'll help if I can

i only need 15 neighbors for my next island and i have 70+ neighbors but i cant buy my next island? lol. i,m lvl40 but and have enough neighbors for the next island but still i cant buy it. plss tell me what i have to do to buy the 6th island. i'm tired of only looking at it.

You have to add neighbors by connecting your dragim city with facebook
Seriously, I won't buy gems just to open land. This is just another way for them to get money. Guess I will be uninstalling it now😕
