Gears 5 is a third-person Shooter where you must save Sera from the alien Invasion. JD Fenix, Delmont Walker and Marcus Fenix return in this fifth installment of the series. Take a look at our Gears 5 Cheats and Tips to get help in this game which is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
- How to Use Starter Weapons
It is essential when playing Gears 5 that you use the correct weapons you have at your disposal. When you begin the game you will have a Lancer Assault Rifle, Gnasher Shotgun, Grenade (you have the choice of a Smoke or Flash Grenade), and Snub Pistol.
If you are being aggressive advancing you need to have the Gnasher Shotgun ready at all times as it is ideal for the inevitable close-quarter combat you will encounter. If you are playing passively and advancing slowly the Lancer Assault Rifle should be your weapon of choice as it is great for long-ranged fights and slowing down enemies.
- Where to Test Weapons
If you are unfamiliar with the weapons you have in Gears 5 it is advised that before you start playing Co-op vs. AI you test them by playing Campaign, Horde mode, Escape mode, or even Arcade mode.
Each weapon in the game is unique, some are more powerful than others and ultimately easier to use than others with different purposes so knowing how to use them effectively during combat is essential.

- How to Fire in Bursts
You will find that many of the automatic weapons in Gears 5 have a considerable amount of recoil when you hold down the trigger to go full-auto. - How to Set Traps with Grenades
Use the grenades you have in your arsenal to set traps. Grenades can be stuck onto enemies or planted onto walls by a quick tap of the melee button. Check out our How to Beat Horde Mode to find out how you can increase your chances of surviving the waves of enemies.
- How to Blindfire
If you are in close-quarter combat you will have no option but to resort to blindfire. This technique is performed by equipping a close-range weapon such as the Gnasher Shotgun and stepping out from cover when you know enemies are nearby and firing from point-blank range. Try to line up your enemies with the center of the screen when blindfiring and make sure you pay attention to the direction your barrel is facing.
- How to Mark Enemies and Objects
Let your teammates know where the enemies are by marking them. This can be easily done by clicking in the left analog stick or pressing Q on your keyboard. You can also mark ammo boxes, and weapons, and select items and areas.
