Okay I found out a way to get over 1300m on the homerun contest simply!

First pick Roy. Then when your on the homerun contest go right up against the bag and press A.

Then run over to it and press up,C. It will come back down and you then use that attack again.(if you have over 7 sec left use it again).

Then as soon as you hit it in the air start powering up his B move. Let it explode and you will get Yoshi's island.
