A mixture of all types....it doesn't have to be all the types...you can do it much in their move sets...for example
Charizard LV100 @ Leftovers/Charcoal/Etc
Flamethrower
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Aerial Ace
That's 4 different types in one pokemon...you can defeat grass/rock/dragon/fighting/poison/steel/bug/normal/ice in one shot...did you get my point? For more help on your team go to the Official Team Ratings Forum
A balanced team is a team that can cover weaknesses and can strike back to most things. A balanced team has a wide variety of Pokmon. I'll just make a small example:
Blaziken
Starmie
Slaking
-Decent Grass Type-
-Decent Ground Type-
-Decent Special Type(like Electric)-
The reason is because one Pokmon can cover for another. Starmie can take some hits that Blaziken can't and return with some nice power. Good Ground types are a Pokmon like Dugtrio, powered by a Choice Band.
I can't say which poke'mon because thats not my desision but you should have all diferent types and have there weakness covered for instence have a ground type a fire a water a dragon a fighting type and a phychic.
My team
Blaziken Lv100
Flygon Lv100
Breloom Lv100
Whiscash Lv95
Guardevoir Lv100
Wailord Lv100
I know I don't use legendary poke'mon, they suck.
A good balanced Pokemon is:
Groundon moves:
Sunny Day
Earthquake
Solarbeam
Flamethrower
That almost covers the team =].

I suggest having multi-type pokemon. For example, Walrein is a great water type, but he ALSO has good ice type moves. And Breloom is a grass-fighting type. See what I mean? And try having other non-stab moves to add some more coverage. A team I would recommend is Walrein, Breloom, Blaziken, Manetric, Salamence, and Gengar/Metagross. Good luck.
